Position Summary:
Nazareth Prep seeks a dynamic and passionate part-time Dance Teacher & Choreographer to join our team and contribute to the growth of our exciting dance program. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to shape young dancers' skills, build their confidence, and instill valuable life lessons through the art of dance.
Responsibilities
Tap Instruction: Teach beginner-intermediate tap classes on a rotating block schedule, two 80-minute blocks between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Thursdays, depending on the school's block schedule calendar.
Friday Dance Intensive: Lead a weekly dance intensive every Friday from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The first half of the intensive (12:30 PM - 2:00 PM) will focus on ballet technique. The second half (2:00 PM - 3:30 PM) will explore modern genres, Afro-Caribbean, and potentially liturgical dance. Experience with Dunham technique is highly desirable.
Choreography: Create engaging and challenging choreography for both tap classes and the Friday intensive. Choreography should be developmentally appropriate yet push students to achieve technical proficiency in timing, skill execution, and building upon learned techniques.
Student Development: Foster a positive and supportive learning environment where all students, regardless of background or experience level, feel encouraged to grow as dancers. Maintain high expectations for student behavior, form, technique, and consistent execution. Provide regular and constructive feedback to students.
Program Building: Contribute to the development of a dance program that utilizes dance as a vehicle for teaching valuable habits of mind and character transferable to academics, work, and life beyond dance.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with school staff, including teacher monitors who will provide classroom support.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience teaching dance, preferably to high school-aged students.
Strong background in tap and, or ballet, and modern/Afro-Caribbean dance forms. Experience with Dunham technique is a plus.
Ability to create innovative and challenging choreography.
Passion for working with young people and fostering their growth as dancers and individuals.
Commitment to high expectations and consistent feedback.
Belief that all students can learn and excel in dance.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Must have Act 33/34 and FBI clearances.

Pay Range: $25-75 per hour
